Koivua by Boyland Knitworks

Koivua by Caitlin Hunter of Boyland Knitworks is a top-down circular yoke sweater that features stranded colorwork and texture created with simple knit and purl stitches, making this an engaging yet not difficult sweater to knit. The recommended detail colour is Spincycle Yarns’ Dream State in colour ‘Stay Ready’ which we stock on our site here.

The sleeves balloon gently and are finished with a simple, classic i-cord. The body and sleeve lengths are easily adjustable, keep in mind changes will alter the yardage required.

Yarn:
MC: Ritual Dyes Elder
190 yards 174 m/100 grams
color used: Natural (cream)

CC: Spincycle Dream State

color used: Stay Ready (Black/brown/cream)

Needles (suggested sizes):
Ribbing and I-cord: US 4 3.5 mm
Main: US 6 4.0 mm

Gauge:
21 sts and 25 rounds over 4” 10 cm after blocking with main needle in both colorwork and texture pattern.

Swatch both colorwork and texture pattern as you may need to change needle sizes to maintain an even gauge. You should always knit your swatch the same way that the pattern is knit—in this case, in the round. Block your swatch as you will your finished garment and allow it to dry fully before measuring.

Measurements given are for the finished garment. This sweater is designed to fit with 7.5-10.5” 19-26.75 cm of positive ease at the bust and 1.5-2.5” 4-6.5 cm of positive ease at the upper arm.
