Rhinebeck is always a highlight of the knitting calendar, and every year we eagerly await Andrea Mowry’s Rhinebeck sweater reveal. This year’s design, Antipodes, is a stunning combination of bold stripes, beautiful stranded colourwork, and unique saddle shoulder construction, all worked seamlessly from the top down.

This year we’ve gone rogue. Since we don’t stock the pattern’s original MC yarn, Confluence, we’ve created our own alternative kits using Farmer’s Daughter Fibres Soka’pii, Recollect and Bear Paw DK. The result? Five gorgeous colour combinations that stay true to the spirit of the design while adding a little Fig Tree Yarn personality.

It’s all about the bundles

Our Soka’pii bundles showcase a beautifully rustic single-ply fingering-weight Rambouillet yarn. The gently thick-and-thin texture of the yarn adds character and depth to the finished knit. Looking for a slightly more substantial fabric? Our Recollect bundles feature a wonderfully bouncy two-ply sport-weight Rambouillet yarn with exceptional stitch definition and rich, saturated colour. Both yarns are quintessential Farmer’s Daughter Fibres bases. They offer warmth, softness and plenty of rustic charm. We also couldn’t resist creating a cheeky kit in Farmer’s Daughter Fibres Bear Paw DK. This wonderfully squishy, DK-weight merino wool yarn creates a cosy fabric with excellent stitch definition and beautiful drape. For the contrast colour, we’ve paired each kit with a coordinating shade of Spincycle Dyed in the Wool. Its signature slow colour transitions bring incredible depth and movement to the stripes and stranded colourwork, creating subtle shifts in colour that make every sweater unique.
